Detectives in Weymouth are urging anyone with information to come forward as they investigate the unfortunate death of a man in at the Pier Bandstand in Weymouth. The incident, reported to Dorset Police at 12.25pm on Monday 25 March 2024, has prompted inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.

Upon receiving the report, officers swiftly attended the scene accompanied by ambulance services. Regrettably, the man was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival. Immediate steps were taken to inform the deceased’s next of kin, and the coroner has been alerted. At present, the authorities are treating the death as non-suspicious, yet investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full details, led by detectives from Weymouth CID.


During the course of their inquiries, a significant development emerged with the arrest of a 50-year-old man on suspicion of the supply of class A drugs. Detective Inspector George Graham, heading the investigation, expressed condolences to the bereaved family while emphasising the importance of gathering information crucial to the case.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in or around the area of the Pier Bandstand on Weymouth Esplanade, or who has any information that might assist our enquiries, to please contact us,” stated Detective Inspector Graham. He further highlighted the assistance rendered by a member of the public who administered CPR to the victim before emergency services arrived, urging this individual to come forward to aid the investigation.
